Production Engineer
Salisbury, Wiltshire
Circa £35,000 Per Annum
Our client are a high-end manufacturing company and are looking to recruit self-motivated Production Engineer, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
The position is required to work 37.5 hours a week. A flexible approach is essential as the position may be required to work outside of normal hours to achieve organisational goals. Some travel may also be necessary.
Purpose: To ensure that production is carried out in a quality, cost effective, efficient manner.
Production Engineer Objectives:
- Support production process requirements to give repeatability of build and thus reduce operator errors where possible
- Oversee new production introduction into mainstream production
- Ensure the correct skills, tools, jigs and fixtures are made available to fulfil the purpose
- Produce and maintain process instruction documentation for all areas of production
- Support lean activities as used within
- Support an environment and culture of continuous improvement
Production Engineer Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own and be accountable for the production process.
- Developing, growing and protecting the long term efficiency of production
- Managing the effective release of new products into production
- Supporting the NPD team in design for manufacture of future product releases.
- Co-ordination of all other departments for the successful transition of new products from design through to production
- Developing and implementing new production methods to increase productivity on the production line.
- Managing cost containment
- Responsible for checking jigs/fixtures that are involved in production are effectively used to maximise on productivity & profit
- Develop various techniques to control production environments
- Assist with the implementation of staff training programs
- Estimating production times & costs
- Establishing key relationships across the business
- Checking BOM’s for structure & content
- Producing and maintaining Process instructions for all product builds.
- All employees have a responsibility for quality and must check the quality of the work they perform.
Production Engineer Skills & Requirements:
- Well organised and able to work to tight deadlines
- Problem solving and analytical skills to identify the root cause and resolve performance blockages
- Flexible and proactive in approach to the role
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- A creative thinker with good writing skills
- Able to demonstrate evidence of ability to build relationships
- PC literate and numerate
Production Engineer Experience:
- Degree qualified or similar Engineering qualification
- Demonstrable evidence of ability to build relationships with key business areas
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools
- Solidworks Composer; desirable but not essential
